Fenty Beauty Collection REVIEW | What I really think!

Hi my Loves,

You all asked what my thoughts on Rihanna's new makeup brand Fenty Beauty were so obviously I had to come through for you guys!

I have been waiting for Fenty Beauty to launch since Rihanna hinted she would be dropping her own makeup line. This line also isn't a collab where Rihanna is simply the face of it; no no, this is literally Rihanna's makeup line. Fenty Beauty is under the Kendo family umbrella so is owned by the company that also is over Kat Von D, Marc Jacobs Beauty & Bite Beauty to name a few.

I have tried out and swatched every item in the Fenty Beauty line so I am going to break each one down for you and let you know my thoughts and if you need it in your life.
So lets go:

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer
About the product -
"A shine-stopping, pore diffusing primer that smooths the way for better foundation application and longer wear with an instant retouch effect."

I love this and I didn't think that I would as I have dry skin. Although this primer claims to be mattifying (and it is) - it is mattifying in a comfortable and non drying manner which makes it perfect if you have skin that leans on the drier side. It has a moisturiser feel to the touch when applying but it melts into the skin and gives you a gorgeous blurred, even effect to the skin. It provides a 'real' matte look to face - so takes away the oily look where you might have it in the T-zone but keeps the areas like the cheeks still having a little life to them and not 100% matte.
When it comes to filling in pores, it's not the most amazing primer I have ever used but it does blur them and make them less noticeable - however if bigger pores are a problem for you this might not do the job for you.

Do you need this?
Yes. Especially if you are intending on picking up the foundation I absolutely recommend picking up the primer as they pair very well together and if you have dry skin don't let the mattifying claims of this primer turn you off.

Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Long-wear Foundation

About the product -
"A soft matte, long-wear foundation with build-able, medium to full coverage, in boundary-breaking range of shades. The ultimate photo filter in foundation form. The oil free formula is made with climate adaptive technology that is resistant to sweat and humidity, and won't clog pores. Best of all this long-wearing, light-as-air texture is undetectable on skin - so you always look like you."

Like the primer, I love this and sure as hell didn't think I would love this so much. I was so unsure that I initially wasn't going to pick this up because I was afraid it would be 'too matte' but let me tell you, that is not the case and again don't let the matte claims throw you off if you are a dry skinned gal.
This foundation comes in 40 shades and caters to all skin shades from light to dark and an extremely wide variety of undertones from warm, to peach to cool, to olive to neutral - Rihanna has got you covered.
So back to the foundation finish - again as a dry-normal skinned girl when I see the word matte I usually shudder because I know this means I'm going to have to tweak it to work with my skin - for some reason when I first saw this foundation I had fears it would be like the Urban Decay All nighter foundation (if you have dry skin this will make you look like a cracked desert) as some of the claims are similar but  thankfully not. Even though this foundation is matte and a pretty full coverage your skin literally still looks like skin which is unbelievable., and although it does mattify your skin it doesn't leave it look dry and creepy like all the moisture has be sucked out of your skin - it covers up your skin issues but you don't look like you are wearing a mask of makeup.
This foundation is build-able so you can amp up the coverage. I have heard whispers that this foundation oxidizes which means that when you apply the foundation of your skin, when it mixes with your natural oils and oxygen it gets a few shades darker - to be honest I don't think this foundation does that. Yes it does get slightly darker once you apply it and it dries down on your skin but I like to think of foundation in terms of the same concept of paint - you apply it wet and once it dries down it get slightly darker - so same concept. If this bothers you pop in to matched and wait 2-3 minutes after it is applied to see if you can take the slight change and if you can't shade down.

Do you need this?
If you want to look like you're walking around with Photoshop permanently on your face - then yes. I wore this the other day when I was out and about and I had 3 strangers approach me and ask about what was on my face - so I mean that is how you know right?!

Match Stix Matte Skinstick
(can be bought individually or in a set with shimmer skin stix)

About the product -
"A magnetized makeup stick in a long-wear, light-as-air, matte formula to conceal, correct, contour and touch up. Made to layer, the build-able cream to powder formula is weightless and super easy to blend, but also stays put. no creasing and caking when you apply it."
I loved the concept of this - the whole magnetized situation really had me hyped but I wasn't a huge fan of the formula of these. I found them to be quite dry so this meant that they dragged and tugged on the skin upon application and if worn with the foundation (or any other foundation that dries down matte) applying these lifts the foundation underneath which makes it look just a  little patchy. If these were creamier I think I would actually enjoy them as the colour range is very good but I think my skin is just that bit too dry for these unfortunately. If you have oilier skin or used these with a dewy foundation your results might be different.

Do you need this?
No. I wouldn't be quick to recommend these to you guys for the reasons I explained above - I'm sure you could get them to work maybe with some fix plus spray or something to give the product more slip but that is just a bit too much work for me for the price of the product in this situation.

Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick

About this product -
"A magnetized makeup stick in a long-wear, light-as-air shimmer formula to highlight, blush, enhance and bronze in 10 colourful shades that let you play"

I liked these a lot more than their matte counter-parts. Although can drag a slight bit too - the beauty about these is that you can apply it to the back of your hand to warm the product up and then apply to the face because we are talking about the likes of blush or highlight. There are some beautiful shades in this line up from true golds, to bright orange to purple unicorn shades and the great thing about this product is that it can be worn sheer or built up for a crazy colour. The creaminess if this product allows it to blend and fuse to the skin so it looks so seamless and blended even if you use the purple unicorn shade confetti.

Do you need this?
If you are looking to add some some colour to face but still what it to look somewhat natural then yes. If you aren't a fan of crazy in your face highlighters then the highlight shades of the shimmer stix's offer you a subtle glow that is beautiful but nothing too crazy (unless you want to layer it up). If you're around my skin tone and you are looking for a beautiful everyday blush I highly recommend Yacht Life as it is the most stunning peachy pink shade that warms up the skin and gives it a beautiful flush that doesn't look like you went into pink face paint.

Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter

About the product -
"A line of weightless, long-wear cream-to-powder hybrid highlighters in solos and expertly paired duos"

These highlighters come as duos or as one singular shade - there are 4 duos & 2 single shades.
I LOVE these highlighters - I am a huge fan of the formula and how they apply and sit on the skin.
If you are a highlighter wearer you may have encountered highlighters in your time that sit cakey on the skin or look overly artificial - these are not those type of highlighters. They melt into your skin and look so effortless. In the duos you get two colours in the same family - a subtle version and then an amped up version (guess which one I love!)

Do you need this?
If you are highlighter lover absolutely yes - you will definitely appreciate these; just make sure you get the right colour for your skin type. Pale - light medium skin should get Lightening dust/Fire crystal , Medium - tan skins should pick up Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby and tan - deep skin tones should pick up Ginger Binge/ Moscow Mule &  Girl Next Door/Chic Phreak (pale/medium skin tones could use these two duos as blush or blush topper). In terms of the single highlighters - I personally prefer the duos - Trophy Wife (the intense gold) is obviously amazing and if you want a very intense highlighter you will love this BUT honestly, I feel this particular shade if you intend on wearing it on skin and not as an eyeshadow is best suited to tan or deeper skin tones.  Metal Moon the other single is nice, but very natural - so if natural highlights are up your street then you'll love it.

Invisimatte Blotting powder

About the product -
"A universal blotting powder that absorbs shine and diffuses the look of pores for an instant filtered look on the fly. Invisimatte’s translucent powder is completely traceless against all skin tones and won’t cake, creep into pores or fine lines, or disturb makeup. And get this: It extends the wear of your foundation, too."

I really wanted to like this but I unfortunately didn't find that it made any difference to my foundation. I don't have oily skin though in saying that so oil control is not something I have an issue with. In terms of extending the wear time of my foundation, I didn't notice any difference -it is beautifully milled and sits virtually undetectable on the skin BUT I just didn't find it did much for my skin type.

Do you need this?
If you have dry skin like me then no - I don't think you'll notice this doing enough to justify the purchase. If you have oily skin, you may find it better but I can't speak on behalf of oily skin types.

Invisimatte Blotting Paper

About the product -
"A set of ultra-portable blotting papers in a super-chic, refillable mirrored compact that looks like a lipstick case. Lift away shine while leaving makeup perfectly untouched. Made with natural botanical fibres in the same expert technique as traditional Japanese paper, Invisimatte is as absorbent as it is silky smooth, with a continuous pinky-nude scroll that lets you choose your perfect-size sheet every time."

I feel the same way about this as I do the blotting powder; to me I don't really see much difference as I don't have oily skin. That being said - if you do have oily skin that tends to get oily throughout the day even when you powder initially - I think these could be a very handy edition to your handbag. They also save you reapplying powder throughout the day which can make your makeup very cakey looking.

Do you need this?
If you have dry skin then like the blotting powder - no. You won't find any use for these. If you have oily skin, (again I can't say for certain as my skin is not oily) you will find these handy for the times you get excessively oily and shiny.

Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

About the product -
"An ultimate, gotta-have-it lip gloss with explosive shine that feels as good as it looks—in one universal rose nude shade. One luscious swipe of Gloss Bomb’s XXL wand gives lips more to love, while conditioning shea butter enriches from within. Lips look instantly fuller and smoother. It feels amazing on your lips—with a non-sticky formula that’s super shiny—and has an addictive peach-vanilla scent you just can’t get enough of."

Straight up, I usually am not a gloss wearer - but I have been wearing this lip gloss nearly every day, by itself or over liquid lipsticks. The smell is TO DIE FOR! the most beautiful smelling product I have ever smelt - I would wear this scent as a perfume or a body spray it is that gorgeous. The colour of this is just so stunning - it is definitely a my lips but better type of colour, it is a shade that just enhances your lip colour and makes your lips look so luscious and pouty. The applicator is also a dream - it is huge and you can do your lips in basically a swipe so its perfect for on the go and doing without a mirror!

Do you need this?
I think everyone needs this lip gloss - it is just perfect for every day and for giving you that polished yet glam but not over done look! It is so gorgeous on everyone and because it is not sticky it will definitely tick the boxes for a lot of people.

That about wraps up my Fenty product review! Fenty has released a limited edition holiday collection but this post was just to focus on the core collection.

I hope you all found this helpful - I know it was long (hence why it took me an age - but I hope you can use this as a reference guide!

You can purchase Fenty Beauty from Fenty Beauty website, Sephora or Harvey Nichols.

With Love from,
